Duration: 2 hours - 230 meters in altitude. Approach approx. 45 min.

Castagniccia

Monte San Petrone

Monte San Petrone is the highest mountain in the "Castagniccia" region. The panorama that you can enjoy from its summit is beautiful! You can see almost all the 2000-metre peaks of Corsica and look down over the villages of the Castagniccia to the sea. On a clear day, you can even see the islands of Elba and Monte Christo!

If you prefer to hike mainly in the shade through beech forest, you should start the hike on the Col de Prato (round trip to Monte San Petrone approx. 4 ¾ h, 800 hm). The ascent is quite leisurely, towards the end it becomes a little steeper for a short section with smaller climbing passages.

Journey from Club Corsicana approx. 1.1 h via Moriani & Folelli to Col de Prato.

Tip: If you want to take a more demanding route, choose the village of Campodonico as your starting point. Here you have about 150 m more to climb. Start opposite the church.

Wonderful view of the east coast

Belvedere de Cervione

Nice hiking trail near the club with beautiful views of Cervione and the east coast.

After a short section on a gravel road, the path leads through a nice, shady forest to the viewpoint with the cross. Here you can enjoy a fantastic view of the east coast, and on a clear day also of the islands of Elba and Monte Christo.
From here, return the same way, or follow the slightly overgrown path further uphill to the chapel "A Madonna di a Scupiccia" (attention: minor climbing passages). On the way, the view extends to the peaks of Monte Renoso and Monte d'Oro in the distance, as well as the villages of Sant-Andrea-di-Cotone and Chiatra nearby. At the chapel, follow the track towards the valley, which will take you back to Cervione.

Journey from Club Corsicana to Cervione approx. 20 min. , pass the church square and follow the sign "Eglise Scupiccia"

Duration of the round hike:   approx. 2.5 hrs, approx. 400 m difference in altitude, Level: Moderate
To the cross approx. 1 hour out and back

Fairytale landscape

Manganello Valley

The hike through the Manganello valley leads through shady forests along the Manganello river and ends at beautiful, crystal-clear swimming pools. The hike is also very suitable for children.
Starting from Canaglia, the trail climbs gently through shady chestnut and pine woods. After 15 minutes you reach the Manganello river with its beautiful pools. The stream accompanies you to the "Tolla Bridge", which you reach after about 1 1/4 hours. After another 15 minutes on a section of the GR 20, you arrive at the "Bergerie de Tolla", where you can take a break (open in high season). A beautiful high valley follows and after about 45 minutes you reach one of the most beautiful series of cascades in Corsica with further bathing opportunities. Return route as outward route.

Journey from Club Corsicana approx. 1.1 h via Aleria, Venaco, Vizzavona to Canaglia. Park your car at the entrance to the village.

Duration: 4.5 hrs. - 300 m altitude difference. Level: Easy

Mountain lakes

Lakes Melo and Capitello

To "Lake Melo" (1h, approx. 400 altitude) easy but beautiful and therefore one of the most popular hikes in Corsica. On the way, we pass the "Bergerie de Melo" , where you can get snacks and drinks. From Lake Melo, the hike can be continued to the higher "Lake Capitello", enclosed by high cliffs (approx. 45 min, moderately difficult - beware: several chain-secured climbing sections! ), or even further to the "Brèche de Capitello" (approx. 50 min from Lake Capitello - only recommended for experienced hikers!), from where you can look down on both lakes. Swimming is prohibited in both lakes, by the way.
Return the same path. On the way back down to Corte, you can take a refreshing dip in the "Restonica" river at various places.

Driving time from Corsicana to starting point Bergerie de Grotelle via Corte (parking for a fee): approx. 80 min (75 km). The footpath is well marked (yellow).

Refreshments: Bergerie de Grotelle, Bergerie de Melo (snack bar)

BEAUTIFUL PANORAMIC PATH

TAVIGNANO VALLEY

Moderate hike from Corte into the dreamlike Tavignano Valley. White rock roses, purple lavender and the continuous view of the Tavignano valley accompany us, only after an hour do a few pine trees join in.
The landscape is beautiful, but the hike is also very sunny and you should take enough drinks and sunscreen with you. Therefore, it is more suitable in the early and late season.

Bathing pools invite you to take a break at several places. We recommend walking to the bridge "Passerelle Russulinu" (see picture), which spans the Tavignano (approx. 2 hours, 450 m altitude). Here you will find a beautiful swimming pool. Return along the same path, this time with a wonderful view down to Corte.
If you still feel like it, we recommend a short stroll with a coffee and ice cream break through the centre of Corte, e.g. at Cours Paoli.

Journey time from Corsicana to starting point in Corte - Rue St Joseph/ Chemin de Paliri north of the citadel (subject to charge): approx. 60 min

THROUGH THE BAVELLA MASSIF

TROU DE LA BOMBE

The "Trou de la Bombe" is a large hole in the rock not far from the famous Bavella Pass. The hike is easy and well suited for children. In the season it is very busy and worthwhile to be here already in the morning.

The path (easy, 2 h round trip, 100 m altitude) leads comfortably through a fern-covered pine forest. Again and again you reach hills that offer a fantastic view of the very striking granite towers of the Bavella massif. After about half an hour, you will see the Trou de la Bombe for the first time. The last stretch is a little steeper.
It is possible to climb up to the rock hole, but beware: on the other side, the descent is dizzyingly deep, which is quite a surprise. The view, however, is of course rewarding!
You return the same way.

Journey time from Corsicana to the starting point at the car park on the Bavella Pass (1218 m): approx. 1.5 h (77 km).
